Ex- National Football League wide receiver Antonio Brown is returning to Miami to face an attempted murder accusation connected with a gunfire that occurred in May, with his lawyer submitting a not guilty response on his behalf.

Correctional documents in Essex County, New Jersey, indicate that Brown was released on Tuesday early for his relocation to Florida. Brown, a highly popular figures in the National Football League, had forgone extradition to Florida from New Jersey, where he was held after being taken into custody in the city of Dubai.

Brown’s counsel, Mark Eiglarsh, mentioned in an email that he has earlier lodged a written innocent declaration to the murder attempt accusation. Brown could be in a Miami courtroom as soon as Wednesday early for a release hearing, Eiglarsh added.

As per his detention warrant, Brown is alleged of seizing a firearm from a protection employee after a celebrity match event in May and firing multiple rounds at a person he had confronted with earlier. Eiglarsh asserted that Brown was simply protecting himself from Nantambu.

“The steps he was compelled to take were exclusively in defense against the alleged person’s hostile conduct. Brown was assaulted that evening and acted within his legal privilege to protect himself,” Eiglarsh said.
