The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Trailer Is Here, Introducing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
Nintendo alongside Illumination released the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. The reveal happened in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that focused exclusively on the upcoming animated film.
The follow-up to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will transport Mario to the far corners of the cosmos. In his journey, he meets a fresh princess character and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
An Interstellar Journey Inspired by Iconic Releases
Similar to the Wii console classics that act as its source material, Mario will depart from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. On his epic voyage, he will reunite with some familiar faces, for instance the Luma, a fan favorite from the previous film.
However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who reportedly wields metal-based powers. Notably, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also includes nods to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The film will see the return of the original voice cast, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
A Big Year for Mario
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is scheduled to arrive near the 40th anniversary of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Beyond the film, 2026 looks set to be a major period for Mario and his friends.
Nintendo confirmed three new games already confirmed for that year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Release Date Confirmed
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
